Poland’s Border Front | Michał Rosół (Komenda Główna Policji)
At the 2025 European Police Congress in May, Police Councilor Michał Rosół from the Main Command of the Polish Police (Komenda Główna Policji KGP) outlines the growing challenges at Poland’s eastern border. Since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, the region has seen increased pressure from irregular migration, human trafficking, and cross-border smuggling often driven by political tactics from Belarus and Russia. Originally not responsible for border protection, the Polish police now assist in crowd control and crisis response, working closely with the army and border guards. Rosół emphasizes the importance of deeper cooperation with German authorities and calls for more flexible, real-time information exchange. Meanwhile, police training is evolving, placing a stronger focus on AI, cybercrime, and crisis management. Despite the pressure, Rosół underlines that the Polish police remain adaptable and committed to securing both national and European safety.
