Drones and Deterrence Focus | Major General Peter Boysen, Chief of the Army, Denmark
Major General Peter Boysen highlights Denmark’s defence modernization and its implications for operational readiness. With defence spending at 3.3% of GDP, Denmark is rapidly enhancing its Army’s combat power, investing in heavy brigades, artillery, logistics, and over 100 Patria armoured personnel carriers (APCs), accelerated through close cooperation with Finland. Drawing lessons from Ukraine, Denmark is emphasizing drones and counter-drone capabilities, electronic warfare, and ISR systems. Every Army unit now trains with drones for reconnaissance, resupply, mine-laying, and strike operations to supplement traditional forces and enhance survivability. On the eastern flank, Denmark prioritizes credible deterrence, integrated and interoperable mission networks, data-centric operations, and realistic exercises to ensure readiness and rapid response against potential threats.
